Anglers, leave dynamite at home
NEZ PERCE COUNTY
Anglers heading to Soldiers Meadow Reservoir near Lewiston can catch as many fish as they want from the northcentral Idaho irrigation impoundment, in any way - as long as they don't employ firearms, explosives, chemicals or electricity.
Idaho Fish and Game's plans to use a chemical to kill Soldiers Meadows' fish in a bid to improve its attractiveness as a fishery.
Currently, the reservoir is choked with perch, crappie and bullhead, species illegally introduced over the years.
Through Oct. 31, licensed anglers can catch as many fish as they want - short of blowing them up, poisoning them or frying them with a jolt of electricity.
After that, plans call for 10,000 9-inch rainbow trout to be planted before Memorial Day.
