MISSOULA, Mont. -

An early morning fire guts a Missoula home and injures one person.

The Missoula Fire Department was called to a fully engulfed home on Skyline Drive in the Rattlesnake area around 3:00 a.m. Monday.

One person was taken to Saint Patrick Hospital to be treated for injuries. Neighbors say the person went inside to find a pet. Fire investigators said they are still looking for the dog, they're unsure at this time if the pet is dead or ran away.

Strong gusty winds increased fire intensity and made firefighting efforts difficult.

The American Red Cross is working with the family to arrange temporary housing and address other basic needs.

The investigation into what caused the fire is ongoing.

Crews were still on the scene early Monday afternoon.
