BOZEMAN, Mont. -

An abortion clinic in Livingston will close Oct. 1.

Dr. Susan Wicklund tells the Bozeman Daily Chronicle (http://bit.ly/1aaK5CV) that her decision to close Mountain Country Women's Clinic "has absolutely nothing to do with protesters."

The 59-year-old Wicklund says she's retiring after 26 years to focus on her health and her family.

Wicklund gained national attention when she appeared on "60 Minutes" in 1993 because of her stance against anti-abortion protests.

She wore a bulletproof vest and carried a handgun for protection after receiving death threats.

The clinic is the only abortion provider within 100 miles of Bozeman.

She operated the clinic in Bozeman from 1993 to 1998, closing it to care for her dying mother in the Midwest.

She reopened the clinic in Livingston in 2009.
