Vann's, the Missoula appliances and electronics company, filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, but with a recent purchase of the company and a new CEO in place the company is working hard to recover this holiday season.
Vann's was once a top online retailer nationally, selling more on the web than its six Montana stores. They banked on ‘Cyber Monday’ deals during the holiday, but this year things are a little different.
“November is probably the worst time you could ever buy a retail company,” said CEO Greg Regelbrugge.
It's not the holiday season workers are used to.
The new owners are working hard to bring back products and stock shelves as quickly as possible for holiday shoppers, both in store and online.
Cyber Monday is typically one of the biggest web sales of the year for the company, but it’s scaled back a bit this season.
“So we had some small, conservative, Cyber Monday offers,” Regelbrugge said.
But the customers didn't seem to mind, the Vann's website still had shoppers. “We're real pleased with the traffic so far.”
And they should be pleased; e-commerce is something Vann’s helped start.
“Vann's pioneered that. Especially in Montana,” said Regelbrugge. “And we've got a very robust team that works on our internet sites and logistically we can get product there very quickly to the consumers.”
That quick pace won't stop in any capacity for the company as it tries to make up for lost time and keep customers shopping right up until Christmas.
“We’re glad to see people coming through the door and giving us a shot at the product we're getting in a little at a time.”
Regelbrugge said the store has lots of new merchandise coming in all the way through mid-December. And he’s hopeful by February the store will be running fully stocked.
