Trustees reveal short-term job courses at FVCC

NBC Montana's following how nearly $3 million in federal grants will be spent to create new jobs in the Flathead. Flathead Valley Community college will use the money to create five new courses tailored to the job market.

FVCC officials say they worked directly with several industry leaders to fine tune the courses: Electronics Technician levels I and II, Pre-Health, and Industrial Maintenance Technician level II. The certificate programs allow students to train for a job in as little as one semester.

"Our mission as a community college is to meet the needs of our local communities and our local employers," said President Jane Karas. "So we're very happy that we were able to work closely with them, let them design the curriculum, and put it together to benefit people who live here."

FVCC aims to launch the certificate programs in the fall.
