A new package of pro-gun proposals is in the works at the Legislature following the Connecticut school shooting and its aftermath.
One of the first bills heard by the Legislature would privatize concealed weapon permit holder address information out of fear that publication of gun owners would make them targets of crime.
Pro-gun Republicans and advocacy groups like the National Rifle Association argue less gun control is needed to combat mass shootings in "gun-free zones." A brewing proposal would limit the ability of local governments to ban guns like some currently do for public buildings.
Another bill on the way would prohibit state law enforcement from enforcing any federal ban on semi-automatic weapons and large-capacity magazines, a reaction to the Obama administration push to restrict assault rifle sales.
