The Legislature's longtime chief revenue estimator is resigning at the end of November.
    
Lee Newspapers of Montana reports Terry Johnson is leaving the Legislative Fiscal Division, but the 62-year-old doesn't plan to retire. He says he doesn't have any specific plans, but wants to continue some kind of public service.
    
Johnson has worked for the state for nearly 40 years, with jobs in the Revenue Department and in the governor's budget office. He's been the principal fiscal analyst for the Legislative Fiscal Division since 1990, forecasting the amount of money the state will collect from taxes and in interest earnings several years in advance so the Legislature can craft a budget.
    
Johnson said if something came up in Gov.-elect Steve Bullock's administration he might be interested, but he hasn't applied for a job.
