Missoula's Chamber of Commerce reports that small business in Montana is a big business in our growing economy.

Montana is an ideal hotbed for small business growth, according to the Chamber's State of Missoula Commerce Report.

The chamber organized a series of speakers to address local, regional and statewide small business owners Tuesday.

Key points focused on small business recovery after a recession, locating resources to help business grow and using Montana's competitive advantage of being well Montana.

John Hart was the first speaker. A regional advocate for small business, Hart informed the crowd about staying in touch with small business laws being passed on the federal level.

Barbara Wagner gave her senior economist view on how Montanans can do research and find information about economic studies affecting small business.

The president of Montana Community Development, Dave Glaser shared his "silver bullets" about what it takes to succeed as a small business in a changing economy. Namely, Glaser pointed out how tight-knit Montana business professionals are and the famous "get it done" attitude that Montanans have.

Dr. Michael Braun brought his expertise about family business success to inform local business owners about the pluses and perils of running a family operation.

Many resources were shared by each panel member, but all related information is shared on the Missoula City Chamber of Commerce website at, where you can find articles and links to websites dedicated to the ins and outs of small business in Montana.
