Kootenai County sheriff's officials say a Lakeland School bus carrying 14 teens after school slid on an icy road and struck a tree.
A statement from the sheriff's office said the driver lost control of the bus Tuesday afternoon on a curve. Deputies say it slid off the road, hitting a tree in the back of the bus.
Deputies say a 15- and a 16-year-old sitting near that area of the bus complained of soreness but were not hospitalized. The school district notified parents and another bus transported the children.
The driver, 58-year-old Debbie Page of Otis Orchards, Wash., told deputies the bus was going around 5 mph.
Lt. Stu Miller says no citations were issued but it appeared the bus was going too fast for conditions at the time.
