Trustees for the Butte School District have decided to appeal a ruling allowing a student expelled for possessing marijuana within line of sight of school grounds to return to the school.
The Montana Standard reports (http://bit.ly/WW3q5Q) the trustees on Friday directed the district's attorney to appeal the ruling by County Superintendent Cathy Maloney.
Maloney ruled last week that the student could return to public school.
The district's attorney will also address other matters involving legal wrangling that occurred in Butte district court when the student wasn't allowed back into Butte High after Maloney's ruling.
Officials say the student has since returned to school.
