A look back on the first half of the legislative session

The Montana Senate has endorsed a plan to expand Medicaid for Montana residents, by using federal funds to buy private insurance for those with low-incomes. The money would help Montanans with less than $15,000 in income.

On Wednesday NBC Montana stopped by the Missoula Food Bank, where workers say many low-income people need help with food as medical costs take up a lot of their money. The staff say about fifteen percent of their clients last year were on Medicare or Medicaid.

“I think [expanding Medicaid] would be a great thing for our clients,” said Missoula Food Bank Community Relations Director.
