MISSOULA, Mont. -

Missoula beauticians and photographers took part in a national movement Saturday to  treat needy families to free professional makeovers and photo sessions.

It's called a "Help Portrait, where local photographers and beauticians team up to do free makeover and snap portraits for needy families.

Missoula's Help Portrait was held at the Hellgate Rollergirls Rink, from noon to 5 p.m.

Dana Wheeler, owner of Shear Art Salon and one of the event organizers, said this is the first time Missoula's hosted a Help Portrait, but it won't be the last.

"I think it's been great because there are so many people in our community who can't necessarily get those pictures or get their families together,” said Wheeler. “So it's just been so helpful to get everyone to pull together and put whatever differences aside and totally focus on helping our community."
