MISSOULA, Mont. -

A pawned ukulele was instrumental in the arrest of a Missoula man suspected in three home burglaries over the past six weeks.

57-year-old John Jesse O'Shea is jailed on $50,000 bail after being charged with two counts of burglary and one count of theft.

Items taken in break-ins that began on Dec. 10 included a .22-caliber pistol, $1,700 in cash, a wallet and a rain jacket. A ukulele was among the items taken last Thursday. The owner found it at a pawn shop the next day.

The pawn dealer identified the woman who'd brought it in and she directed officers to O'Shea. Court records say he told investigators he was responsible for the three break-ins.

O'Shea also is being held on a fugitive warrant from Oregon.
