Analysts say Montana's snowpack level this year is slightly below average, which means stream flows are expected to be about 90 percent of their normal levels across the state.
Natural Resources Conservation Service water supply specialist Brian Domonkos says the snowpack is now about 93 percent of average. That includes a range from 85 percent in the Bitterroot Basin to 119 percent in the Milk River Basin.
Domonkos estimates that will mean stream flows ranging from 82 percent of normal on the lower Yellowstone River to 101 percent on the St. Mary River.
Domonkos tells the Billings Gazette a near-normal snowpack is good because the snow-accumulation season is about 80 percent complete at this time of year.
