ROSEBUD, Mont. -

Fire officials on Sunday boosted the number of firefighters battling the six wildfires that form the Rosebud complex in southeastern Montana to 672 while the amount of area burned remained about the same at 272 square miles.

By far the largest of the wildfires is the 216-square-mile Chalky Fire southwest of Colstrip that has destroyed two homes. Firefighters have been working to build fire lines before an expected increase in temperatures into 90s that could increase fire activity.

Meanwhile, crews made progress on the Sarpy Hill complex of fires to the west on the Crow Reservation with containment increased on Sunday to 50 percent. More than 600 firefighters are working the fires that have burned about 128 square miles.

Elsewhere, the Goblin Gulch Fire in a rugged area of the Lewis and Clark National Forest was 10 percent contained.
