Montana deputy embroiled in controversy resigns
A sergeant with the Lake County Sheriff's Office who is being sued by coworkers and who admitted to lying about military service has resigned.
Sheriff Jay Doyle confirmed that Dan Duryee's last day will be Thursday. Doyle would not say whether Duryee gave a reason for his resignation.
Duryee admitted two years ago that he lied about serving as a Marine in Desert Storm. Duryee, Doyle and two others have also been named as defendants in a lawsuit by current and former coworkers who contend they were retaliated against for attempting to expose wrongdoing within the department.
A trial for the lawsuit is scheduled for March.
