The Republican and Democratic candidates for Montana's sole U.S. House seat are reporting record fundraising tallies for the third quarter of 2012.
State Sen. Kim Gillan's campaign said Monday the Billings Democrat raised $375,000 for the three months ending Sept. 30. That's nearly as much as she raised during all previous periods combined.
After expenses, Gillan's campaign reported $151,259 in cash-on-hand.
But that was not enough to overcome the money advantage of Republican Steve Daines of Bozeman. He reported raising about $490,000 - more than twice as much as his previous best quarter.
The former software executive has $360,000 in cash-on-hand. Campaign manager Zach Lahn says that does not include $500,000 of pre-paid advertisements for October.
Election Day is Nov. 6.
