A judge set bail at $10,000 for a Missoula man accused of hitting a female police officer.
Prosecutors charged 52-year-old Eric Dean VanZomeran with felony assault on a peace officer and misdemeanor criminal trespass to property after he allegedly hit an officer in the face when she told him to leave Walmart property for being disruptive.
The officer used pepper spray first to try to arrest the man. But when that didn't work officers say she had to use her taser when he grabbed her wrist and wouldn't let go.
“Sir the problem here is that there's an alleged violation of assault on a peace officer and we don't take that lightly here in Missoula County,” said Missoula County Justice Court Judge John Odlin. “Bond in this case will be set in the amount of $10,000.”
