Missoula-area firefighters swept the top three spots in the 22nd annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb held at Seattle's Columbia Tower.
Missoula City firefighter Andrew Drobeck won Sunday's event. He climbed 69 flights of stairs in 50 pounds of equipment, including a breathing apparatus, in 10 minutes, 48 seconds. The time was nearly 10 seconds slower than the record he set in winning last year's event.
Kory Burgess with Missoula Rural Fire finished second in 11:02, followed by Missoula City firefighter Benjamin Brunsvold in 11:44.
Burgess won the event from 2009-2011, meaning a Missoula-area firefighter has won the last five stair climbs.
Doug Swain of Missoula Rural Fire was third in the men's Masters division with a time of 13:17.
Race organizers expected to raise about $1.2 million for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
