The first round of voting is complete and Missoula made the cut, ranked No. 2 with 1,606 votes.  The city moves on to the Elite 8 in the bracket to select the next city to host the annual Social Media Tourism Symposium. 

Missoula will face off against Grand Rapids, Michigan, in the second round.  Voting will take place over four days, with a different matchup each day.

You can cast your vote for Missoula on Wednesday, March 20, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Mountain time. 

The symposium will take place the first week of November. Supporters say it would be a huge economic boost for the local economy as the symposium would host 300 to 400 top social media influencers. 

Tourism coordinators tell NBC Montana if Missoula wins they expect the symposium would bring in over $250,000 to the local economy, not to mention the long-term impacts of hundreds of social media influencers talking about Missoula as the place to visit. 

In addition to Missoula and Grand Rapids, the cities still in the running are Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Branson, Missouri; Cleveland, Ohio; St. Pete/Clearwater, Florida; Huntsville, Alabama; and Indianapolis, Indiana. 

You do not have to live in Missoula or Montana to cast your vote for Missoula, so tourism coordinators invite you to tell out-of-state friends and family to cast their votes too.
