A Missoula man has to pay $200 cash to get out of jail for allegedly stealing a deputy’s badge.

Court documents say 23-year-old Dexter Frey was extremely intoxicated when two deputies gave him a ride to an Albertson's so he could walk home.

Frey rode in the back seat of the car, and after he was dropped off, one deputy checked to make sure he didn’t leave anything in the vehicle, instead he found something missing. He chased after Frey and asked where his badge was, Frey allegedly told the deputy it was in his pocket and that he just wanted a souvenir.

That ‘souvenir’ landed him in jail. Thursday in Missoula County Justice Court Frey pleaded not guilty to the charge of felony theft.
