Missoula Food Bank needs holiday donations
MISSOULA, Mont. -

For 30 years the Missoula Food Bank has provided local families with the extra food they need to get by.

This year the food bank provided nearly 1,700 families with turkeys for Thanksgiving, but food bank officials say the need for food donations is always there and they're busier during the winter months than any other time of year.

Right now the food bank is in need of protein foods such as peanut butter, canned tuna and chicken and frozen meats.

Food Bank officials say they can also accept donations of commercially processed meats and of course cash and check donations are always welcome, especially during the holiday season.

Missoula Food Bank Community Relations Director Jessica Allred said the food bank set a record this year with how many families it was able to help out with Thanksgiving turkeys, but Allred says the need for donations is always there.

“From the $3 check to the $10,000 check it’s just a matter of having individuals living in our community with the same value that no one among us should go hungry,” said Allred.

The Missoula Food Bank will be closed Thursday or Friday for Thanksgiving.  Click here to see a listing of the Missoula Food Bank’s holiday hours.
