As of 6 am, Friday recreation areas closed during the Millie Fire will reopen to the public.

The following is a press release from Millie Fire officials:

Bozeman District forest closures have been modified to allow more public access after being closed during firefighting operations on the Millie Fire. Firefighting activities  continue in the South Cottonwood drainage, including helicopter operations. Please use caution and remain alert when accessing the re-opened areas. Please be aware that some areas remain closed for public safety and fire operations.

Storm Castle drainage- Open to Rat Flat

Garnet Lookout open

Spire Rock Camp Ground open

Little Bear Drainage- Open

Little Bear cabin open

Trail 417, Storm Castle Ridge Trail remains closed

South Cottonwood Drainage- Closed

Hyalite Drainage- Open with the following exceptions:

History Rock Trail 424 is open to the divide, but closedinto South Cottonwood. Blackmore Trail 423 is open to the divide, but closed into South Cottonwood

Main Fork Hyalite Trail 427 is open to Hyalite Peak.  At the junction of 427 with Storm

Castle Trail 185, Trail 185 is closed into South Cottonwood
