Miles City man charged in methadone death
A 27-year-old Miles City man is facing federal charges in the drug-related death of a Miles City woman.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says Joseph Daniel Capehart pleaded not guilty Monday to an indictment charging him with distribution of methadone and distribution of the drug resulting in death.
The Billings Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/Vi5W1V ) Capehart is charged with distributing methadone to 29-year-old Crystal Harrell in October 2011. Prosecutors say Harrell died from using the drug.
Methadone is a synthetic opiate used to treat pain and to manage withdrawal symptoms from heroin and other opiates.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Carolyn Ostby ordered Capehart to remain in custody.
