Boise Mayor Dave Bieter has nominated himself to fill a vacant spot on the city's nine-member urban renewal board.
The Idaho Statesman reports (http://bit.ly/XKnKdQ) in a story published Saturday that the city council has to approve Bieter's nomination.
If approved, Bieter would join two city council members already on the Capital City Development Corp.'s board of commissioners.
Bieter spokesman Adam Park says Bieter decided to nominate himself because he wants to make sure the city and its urban renewal agency mesh on a strategy for improving the 30th Street area west of the downtown area.
Other mayors who serve on their city's urban renewal agency boards include Meridian's Tammy de Weerd and Pocatello's Brian Blad.
