A man suffered a gunshot wound during a standoff with Canyon County sheriff's deputies at a residence east of Nampa.
The sheriff's office says deputies responded at about 8:45 p.m. Sunday to a report that a man had a gun and was creating a disturbance.
Deputies called the man and convinced him to come out of the house. The man came out the front door with a gun in his hand. Deputies ordered the man to drop the weapon several times. Sheriff-elect Kieran Donahue says while officers were talking with the man, shots were fired. The man then retreated into the house.
About two hours later, the man surrendered. He had suffered at least one gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital. No officers were injured.
