A Billings resident charged in the stabbing death of a 21-year-old man in a Fort Benton bar has pleaded not guilty to deliberate homicide.
A court affidavit says Casey Lee Carlos stabbed Fletcher Courtnage-McKinsey four times at the Pastime Bar on Jan. 19.
The Great Falls Tribune reports the 25-year-old Carlos entered his not guilty plea Tuesday during his arraignment in Chouteau County District Court.
He also faces charges of assault with a weapon and tampering with evidence.
The affidavit says at least two witnesses told police the stabbing happened while Courtnage-McKinsey was in a fist fight with another individual.
Fort Benton police later found a knife in the street not far from the bar.
Carlos is being held at the Chouteau County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
