Yellowstone County deputies say a man is lucky to be alive after being run over by a combine while taking a nap in a cornfield on the west end of Billings.
Sheriff's Lt. Kent O'Donnell says the 57-year-old man told officers he was walking along Grand Avenue when he decided to take a rest. He told officers he walked about three rows into the cornfield and fell asleep.
The landowner had just begun harvesting Wednesday afternoon when the combine shuttered. He turned the machine off and heard a man screaming.
O'Donnell says the combine caught the man's clothing and sucked him into the cutter. He suffered cuts that required stitches and may require skin grafting.
The man's name was not released. He told officers he was passing through town on the bus.
