NBC Montana was first to report that a major appliance dealer in Washington and Idaho will open outlets in Montana.
Fred’s Appliance has plans for stores in Missoula and Kalispell. NBC Montana made some calls and found out the city of Missoula issued Fred’s business license Wednesday.
Thursday afternoon we talked to store manager Doug Standley and he told us that both store locations will be open before spring. “I've been in the appliance business for 13 years total and I'm very excited about working with Fred's primarily because they are very customer service focused,” said Standley.
Standley says Fred's Appliance may start hiring by the end of January. “I don't have firm numbers yet but we'll definitely be looking for sales people, delivery people, warehouse crews, etc. in both locations,” said Standley. “We will also need service technicians because we intend to service what we sell.”
Fred's bills itself as a family run business that's been open for 50 years and when they set up shop in Missoula, Fred's will be neighboring with Loren's Carpet One.
Owner's of Loren's Carpet One confirmed with NBC Montana that they will be leasing a little more than half their floor space to Fred's Appliance.
Standley says the move is a win-win for everyone. “It's a pretty exciting addition to the community I think,” said Standley.
And here's an interesting twist, Fred's is moving into Montana just months after the state's largest appliance dealer, Vann's, filed bankruptcy and then was bought out by another company.
NBC Montana will continue to cover this story and we’ll bring you the details as we learn more.
