KALISPELL, Mont. -

College logging teams competed head to head, or rather log to log all day Saturday in Kalispell. For 41 years, Flathead Valley Community College's championship logger team has hosted Stumpjumper Days at their home arena behind the college.

Team members tell us the purpose of logger sports is to keep the rich traditions of forestry alive in the valley. Students compete in events like pole climb, axe throw, double buck, and vertical chop.

"It's pretty awesome," said team captain Austin Styler. "I'm not going to say I'm the best person for the job but I'm trying hard. It's a lot of fun."

FVCC's team heads to Missoula next to defend their 2012 national championship title.
