A 43-year-old Lockwood man can avoid prison time for pointing a gun at patrons of a strip club last February, but he can't possess any firearms for the next 30 years.
The Billings Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/XaQ8Pl) District Judge G. Todd Baugh on Monday gave Douglas Gene McKinnon a 30-year suspended sentence with the Department of Corrections. McKinnon pleaded guilty to assault with a weapon and two counts of criminal endangerment.
Court records say McKinnon pointed a gun at a patron at Planet Lockwood. A bouncer got him to leave, but he pointed a gun at some patrons who followed him outside.
Prosecutors say McKinnon later fired two shots over the heads of Yellowstone County deputies as they interviewed witnesses.
McKinnon apologized, saying he was off his medication for bipolar disorder and had been drinking.
