Montana lawmakers expect to seek changes to a plan to redraw the state's legislative map.
   
The Districting and Apportionment Commission just finished a new map for Montana's 100 House and 50 Senate districts to align with 2010 population numbers.
   
Commission Chairman Jim Regnier told lawmakers Friday the plan was carefully drawn to meet legal and constitutional requirements.
   
Regnier is a former Montana Supreme Court justice selected as the impartial chairman. He often alternated in choosing sides between the Republicans and Democrats on the panel.
   
But some Republicans say they believe that Democrats got the better deal in key urban and suburban districts. Lawmakers have until early next month to offer formal comment.
   
Senate President Jeff Essmann, a Republican, says the proposal could be challenged in court as unconstitutional.
