The jury stated they were "hopelessly deadlocked" in the case of a man accused of stabbing another man outside a Gallatin Gateway bar.

The jury spent all day in closed-door deliberations in the case of Mark Paul Logan on Thursday, but late that night, just couldn't reach a verdict.

After sending their note to Judge John Brown that they were "hopelessly deadlocked," Judge Brown sent a note back asking if they wanted to continue deliberations the next day.

At 10:30 pm, they decided that was the best decision.

The alleged incident happened outside a Gallatin Gateway bar back in October 2011.

Prosecutors said Logan pulled out a hunting knife and stabbed a man six times during an altercation, then fled.

The jury is supposed to continue deliberating at 9 am Friday. NBC Montana will be on standby, and will have the latest updates on the web and evening newscasts.
