A District Court judge has ordered a mental health evaluation for a 32-year-old Missoula man charged with stabbing a Dixon man to death and cutting a woman's throat.
KERR-AM reports Nathan Lee William Calvert appeared for arraignment Thursday before District Judge Kim Christopher in Polson. However, she cited concerns over Calvert's fitness to proceed and his mental state at the time of the Dec. 6 stabbing and ordered a psychiatric evaluation at the Montana State Hospital in Warm Springs.
Calvert is charged with deliberate homicide for breaking into a Dixon-area home and stabbing Doug Morigeau to death. He is charged with attempted deliberate homicide for cutting Cheryl Morigeau's throat.
Calvert will be arraigned in Sanders County after the mental health evaluation is complete.
