A 45-year-old Idaho man charged with stabbing his estranged wife after she rejected his interest in repairing the marriage has pleaded not guilty to attempted deliberate homicide.
The Missoulian reports (http://bit.ly/RBFkgA) 45-year-old Emmitt Hogsten Jr. entered his plea Tuesday before District Judge Karen Townsend. He remains jailed on $500,000 bail.
Prosecutors say Hogsten traveled to Missoula with hopes of reconnecting with his estranged wife. The two were riding around in her truck on Nov. 12 when she told him she wanted a divorce. Court records say Hogsten choked her then stabbed her six or seven times in the chest. Witnesses say the stabbing ended when the knife broke and the woman was able to escape to a nearby business.
