BOZEMAN, Mont. -

The Southwest Montana Building Industry Association held its home expo in Bozeman Sunday. The event was held at the Brick Breeden Field House at Montana State University.

People all across Montana attended to get more information about building supplies and home improvement advice. One shopper we spoke to told us she came out on her Sunday to get all the information she could about blinds.

"I'm re-building my room and wanted to get information on stuff," said Chelsea Munch.

The home expo drew in hundreds of people looking for stones, wood products, hot tubs, and even investment advice.

Nathan Albrecht is the president of SWMBIA. He told NBC Montana this is the best way for people to get local products.

"I think it's a great way to get the public to be able to see the products we have in the valley and be offered to someone who is building a new house," said Albrecht.

We spoke to several shoppers who told us they came out to see new materials and learn how to install them in their homes. One shopper says he installs things by himself all the time, but uses professional advice.

"Have a professional on your team. You don't have to pay them. Just make it okay where you can call them," said Clay Nelson.

Albrecht says the best way to keep Montana's economy running is to buy local.
