The former boss of U.S. House candidate Steve Daines has sued the Montana Democratic Party for libel over an advertisement critical of Daines' work for a Bozeman technology company.
RightNow Technologies founder Greg Gianforte says Democrats distributed ads alleging the company was built with government contracts then shipped jobs overseas. The lawsuit filed last week argues the claims are false.
RightNow had at least $15 million in government contracts before it was bought by Oracle this year. Gianforte says that was less than 10 percent of RightNow's business.
Daines worked for the company for about 12 years. He was a vice president before leaving in March to campaign.
