BUTTE,Mont. -

The historic St Lawrence church located on North Main Street in Walkerville is sporting a new look.

The "Citizens for Preservation and Revitalization" awarded a $4,250 grant to the city of Walkerville.

City officials then unanimously made the decision to use that money for upgrades on the 115 year old church.

“It gets beat up pretty bad from hail storms especially in the front but the wood is old and the paint doesn't last a long time and it was very very badly needed so we were very happy to get the money from the CPR group,” said Kathy Rosa a long time volunteer at the church.

St. Lawrence is more commonly rented for various gatherings, receptions and weddings because of the beautifully hand painted art work that lines the entire ceiling.

Officials with the church tell us it's a lot of hard work preserving the historic building and they're always looking for more volunteers to help out.
