A Hamilton man who authorities say was involved in a night of drinking and fighting with his wife has been charged with deliberate homicide after his wife was removed from life support and died.
Police say 47-year-old Douglas Charles Reynolds was charged Friday and was being held in the Ravalli County jail on $250,000 bail.
Police say 40-year-old Jessica Hawkins was found unconscious with a head injury in a motel room on Nov. 11. She was later declared brain dead and removed from life support, and died Tuesday in a Missoula hospital.
Police say Hawkins had a blood-alcohol level of 0.342, and that Reynolds had a level of 0.252 at the time.
Reynolds told police he struck Hawkins several times before going to bed, then found her unconscious in the morning.
