The National Park Service has acquired 120 acres of previously privately owned land located within the boundaries of Glacier National Park.
The property was bought by the Trust for Public Land for $900,000 and sold to the park service for the same price using royalties from federal offshore energy leases.
A Monday statement by the park service and the Trust for Public Land says the property on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River near Harrison Lake was settled by Dan Doody, one of the first Glacier park rangers.
The statement says the land is a popular stop along the river because of its history and its recreational access.
