An 11-year-old Montana girl who was seriously burned in a Christmas tree fire remains hospitalized at the University of Utah Burn Center in Salt Lake City.
Hospital spokeswoman Marissa Villasenor told the Great Falls Tribune (http://gftrib.com/X5Tl4K ) that Julia Winney of Conrad remained in critical condition Thursday.
Her father, Daniel Winney, tells the newspaper his daughter's condition is steadily improving.
Julia was injured Sunday in the fire, which caused extensive damage to an apartment building.
Conrad Volunteer Fire Chief Kevin Moritz has said Julia was home alone when the fire started. She called her mother, who called the fire department. Moritz says a neighbor who also is a deputy sheriff performed CPR on the girl.
