BILLINGS, Mont. -

A former Billings Senior High teacher has pleaded guilty to raping a 14-year-old student who later committed suicide. Stacey Rambold was charged in 2008 with three counts of sexual intercourse without consent. In 2010, while the criminal case was pending, the girl killed herself. Prosecutors felt they could not gain a conviction without her testimony, so they negotiated a three-year deferred prosecution agreement that required Rambold complete a sex offender treatment program. The case was revived in January after prosecutors learned Rambold was terminated from a sex offender treatment program.
