A Florence man has pleaded guilty to trapping violations after a dog was injured at a fishing access site last week.
59-year-old Juan Lopez was fined $535, is required to pay restitution, and lost his trapping privileges for three years.
He must also take a trapping education class before his privileges can be reinstated.
Fish Wildlife and Parks said Lopez' mink trap caught the paw of Monte, a young Labrador Retriever, at a fishing access site off the Florence Bridge.
It's illegal to place traps at public fishing sites.
The trap had been set near a concrete pillar at the popular recreation site.
Unable to release the trap, the dog's owner rushed the trap and his dog to a veterinarian, where the trap was removed, and she underwent surgery.
Monte is doing well.
