Deputies released the identity of the woman who died Sunday after her raft overturned on the Flathead River. Authorities say 57-year old Brenda Reiner and her husband were rafting in the Kalispell area when the raft tipped at an island.
Deputies say Reiner became trapped under a tree. Both were wearing life jackets.
NBC Montana spoke with one of Reiner’s best friends on Monday. Becky Hacke says Reiner worked as a caretaker for an elderly, and had a giving personality.
“She was the most giving person and loving person that I’ve ever known in my whole life,” said Hacke. “On Facebook, she had quite a following because she led prayer chains and prayer groups and she also was a second mom to many children in the Flathead Valley, and they all just loved her dearly.”
Reiner’s family has set up a memorial fund at the First Interstate Bank on Main Street in Kalispell. Money donated will help the family pay for Brenda’s funeral.
