BOZEMAN, Mont. -

Firefighters quickly quashed a small wildland fire in Bozeman, Saturday.

They got the call at around 4pm, Saturday afternoon.

The fire spanned about 12 acres in a field along Love Lane, between Durston and Baxter Road, near the Black Bull Golf Community.

Incident Commander John Culbertson with Central Valley Fire says a farming combine hit a rock, creating sparks.

He says their biggest challenge was gaining access to the fire and that it did cause a slight delay in suppressing the blaze.  Yet, Culbertson explains firefighters still managed to extinguish the fire fairly quickly.

Property owners returned to harvesting the field as soon as the fire was out.

Fire officials remind folks there is still no open burning allowed in Gallatin County.
