Firefighters knock down apartment blaze
The following is a press release from the Missoula Fire Department:
Missoula Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 1407 Stoddard Street at approximately 2:00 a.m. this morning – 3 engine companies, a truck company and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded, along with City PD units and an ambulance from Missoula Emergency Services.
Upon arrival, firefighters found an apartment on the second floor with heavy smoke and a fire in the living room. The occupant of the apartment was not home at the time of the fire, all other occupants of the building were evacuated. Fire crews made an interior attack to knock the fire down and checked for extension in the ceiling and walls. A fire investigator was called and the cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
There were no injuries reported damage is estimated at $15,000.
