Officials headed into the Hyalite Canyon area Thursday to evacuate campers and recreationists.
The move comes a day after the Millie fire exploded, going from around a thousand acres, to 10,000 acres.
Once people have been cleared the popular recreation area will be closed.
Sheriff’s department officials did express concern about reaching people camping or hiking in the backcountry. There is limited cell service in Hyalite
People in the Cottonwood drainage have also been put on notice that they may need to evacuate.
On Wednesday the fire made large runs to the north and east. And is moving along Stormcastle Divide Trail #417, to Timber Butte, Alex Lowe Peak, Mt. Bole, and the upper reaches of the South Cottonwood drainage.
