A 27-year-old Emigrant man has died after his sport utility vehicle struck a deer on U.S. Highway 89 south of Livingston and rolled.
The Montana Highway Patrol says the man was northbound near Emigrant at about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday when he swerved to try to miss a deer. The SUV hit the deer, the driver overcorrected and the SUV went off the road where it struck a ditch and rolled.
The Billings Gazette reports the man was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. His name hasn't been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
