Economic boost projected in Butte for state football playoff
SILVER BOW COUNTY
For the first time since 1991 the Butte High Bulldogs football team will compete for the state title.
The team hosts the fifth-seeded Bozeman Hawks Friday in the Mining City.
These Bulldog players are bringing a lot more to the town then potentially the state title.
City officials are projecting a large turnout for the game, and local stores, hotels and restaurants are preparing for the rush.
A few hotels are considering doubling up on staff; restaurants closer to the high school are doing the same with their inventories.
"We're expecting it to get busy and I'm hoping we're going to get smoked because we need the business, we need it, but we're just going to take it on head on,“ said Robert Bolstad, a cook.
Small business owners agreed this might just be a minor boost economically, but it’s one much needed.
The game is scheduled for Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Naranche Stadium.
