KALISPELL, Mont. -

Racing enthusiasts are gearing up for the 22nd annual Montana 200 weekend at Montana Raceway Park.

Though the big race doesn't start until Saturday, pit crews filled the speedway today to get in some practice laps. A fan fest gave visitors an up close look at some of their favorite drivers.  Forty-five competitors from the West, Northwest, and Canada are vying for the top prize - a $15,000 payout for completing and winning the 200 lap race.

One such driver is 14-year-old Giles Thornton. The Whitefish resident is the youngest driver and he's looking to qualify for his second attempt at the 200.

Giles explains his strategy, "You just have to focus. Take everything out of your mind that's not relevant to racing. If you miss a line, just fire a foot. So pretty much just focus."
